MacBooks have a hidden sensor that tracks the exact angle of the lid, but Apple never gave developers access to it. We saw an opportunity: turn that invisible piece of hardware into a playful product that makes the hinge feel alive with sound.

The sensor isn't documented, the App Store blocks apps that use it, and the experience had to feel natural. The sound needed to move with the lid, not just play when it opens.

• Sound that follows the hinge: The sound plays in sync with the lid. Open slowly for a long creak, snap it shut for a quick slam. It feels like the hinge itself is making the noise
• 8 built-in sounds: Creaky door, sci-fi airlock, rusty hatch, wooden chest, cartoon spring, and more. Users can also upload their own audio
• Lives in the menu bar: Volume control, sound picker, launch at login, and a live angle display. Lightweight and unobtrusive
• Shipped outside the App Store: The App Store doesn't support this type of hardware access, so we chose direct distribution: signed, notarized by Apple, and delivered as a clean DMG install

• Idea to revenue in one evening: We went from concept to a signed, notarized, purchasable product in a single working session
• Production-grade from day one: Not a prototype. Notarized by Apple, listed on Gumroad, ready to sell immediately
• The polish makes the product: Accessing the sensor was only half the work. Making the experience feel physical and delightful is what turns a tech demo into something people want to buy
