Stints
Pick one thing that matters to you. For four weeks, you and 2 to 7 people you trust each promise one concrete thing a week, and show it done. Stints turns good intentions into a small, shared commitment between friends.
Stints
A web app that helps a few friends each get one real thing done in a month, one promise a week. From concept to private beta in 11 days.
The Challenge
Most personal projects do not fail for lack of motivation. They fade quietly, because nobody else is waiting on them. The podcast stays recorded but never published, the side project stays a folder on a laptop, the event stays an idea.
Habit trackers leave you alone with a streak, and online communities put you in front of strangers. What actually works in real life is simpler: a few people who know you, a clear deadline, and one small thing to show each week. The goal was to make that easy to start, social without becoming another group chat, and honest enough that "done" really means done.
What We Built
- Start a stint in three steps: Describe what you want done by the end of the month, list where you need help, then invite your people
- A personal link for each person: Every friend, relative, or colleague gets their own invitation, easy to send over WhatsApp or any messaging app. They open it, say yes, and they are in
- A kickoff to get everyone aligned: The group kicks off together, agrees on the first steps, and decides what each person puts at stake. Then the four weeks begin
- One concrete promise a week: Everyone commits to one thing with a due date, then marks it done and shows proof. A week without a commitment counts as missed, so momentum never slips quietly
- Everything on one page: The goal, the current week, who promised what, and who still has something to do. One look is enough to know where the group stands
Going Beyond
- Ask for a hand, not just make promises: Besides your own commitments, you can ask one person, several, or the whole group to do something. Each one says yes or no, or you leave it open for whoever picks it up
- Disagreements settled fairly: If someone questions whether a promise was really kept, the group decides with an anonymous vote. No awkward confrontation between friends
- Bilingual from day one: English and French, switchable in one tap
- Feedback one click away: Beta testers can report friction from any page, the moment they hit it
The Results
- From concept to private beta in 11 days
- 150 people joined during the first week of the private beta
- 60 stints created so far
